Back to the routine

Even with the three Summer classes I took, it seems like it's been forever since I've been in the "school routine." Ya know, waking up early Monday through Thursday, staying up late to work on homework, group projects, procrastination, deadlines, notes, frustration, anxiety, and, sometimes, even relief from a job well done... if it ever ACTUALLY gets done.

I'm that kind of student that really enjoys going to class, but hates doing work. (Then again, who doesn't fit that description?) I'm taking three hospitality classes, Enjoyment of Music, and College Algebra (blah). My hospitality classes should be pretty good, as I'm looking forward to finally getting into those for my major. But, we'll see how they go.

I was reminded about how much stress is brought onto the world when school starts again: all the kids are either really excited, really bummed, or really terrified, and the parents usually go through the same painful feelings. I was in Wal-Mart tonight, shopping for my school supplies, and and a poor young woman approached, asking, "excuse me, but what are binders? Are THESE binders?" (pointing to the spiral notebooks). I felt bad for her, because she was trying to get all this stuff together for her little sister, and she couldn't make heads or tails of the extremely long school supply list... for a fourth grader. Among other things, she had to buy "6 1/2" binders with pockets" - REALLY? SIX binders? For a FOURTH GRADER? Wow, either elementary school has become extremely complex since I was in it, or I really missed out on something. Anyway, I helped her out for a few moments, and she seemed slightly relieved.

As you can probably tell, I'm not crazy about school, but I know it's gotta get done. Hopefully, I'll finish it all up and be outta here soon...

... unless I study abroad in the Spring, or do a College Program at Disneyland next Fall, both ideas that have entered my head in the last few weeks. Who knows - stay tuned.

On matters not relating to school (aka my "personal life"), things aren't too bad, I guess. I'm still single, nobody of any real interest around right now. I'm happy with work and just enjoying life. My friend base is holding up pretty well, I know I can count on people if I need them. I really miss my friends from Main Campus, but, hopefully, I'll be able to see more of them this semester. I also miss some of those that have left Florida and gone back home, but I know that I'll see them again.

Well, of course I should be doing other productive things right now, like homework, cleaning the kitchen, and preparing for the semester, but I felt that I needed to write for just a hot minute.

So, with that, I'll leave you now and get back to my so-called life... woo hoo. Oh, and yea, we have another storm approaching, just in time to kill Labor Day weekend. Great.
